Maria Lassnig
One of the best-kept secrets in the Austrian art scene,
is that of Maria Lassnig (born 1919, Carinthia).
Along with Frida Kahlo and Louise Bourgeois, she is one
of the most important artists of the 20th Century.
She was a two-time participant in Documenta (1982 and 1997),
Austria's representative at the 1980 Venice Biennale,
and also the first professor of painting in Germany.
The work of the 93-year-old Austrian painter is shown in
Northern Germany for the first time with 100 works
from 1945 to 2012 and two films from the 1970s.
